From al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Then Allah sent down His tranquillity upon him," he said: It is serenity.
It is like the other [mention of] "And sent down the tranquillity," which has already been mentioned exhaustively in [Surah] al-Baqarah.
His saying, Exalted is He: "upon him."
10046 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Yunus and Ibrahim ibn Mahdi al-Missisi narrated to us—the wording is Ibrahim's—they said: Abu Mu'awiyah informed us, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Siyah narrated to us, from Habib ibn Abi Thabit regarding His saying: "Then Allah sent down His tranquillity upon him," he said: It descended upon Abu Bakr. As for the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), his tranquillity was upon him before that.
10047 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, 'Ali ibn Mujahid narrated to us, from Ash'ath ibn Ishaq, from Ja'far, from Sa'id, from Ibn 'Abbas [regarding] "His tranquillity upon him," he said: Upon Abu Bakr, for the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), the tranquillity never ceased to be with him.
10048 - It was mentioned from Yazid ibn Zuray', Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Then Allah sent down His tranquillity upon him," meaning: Upon His Messenger and upon the believers.
His saying, Exalted is He: "And supported him."
10049 - Ahmad ibn 'Amr ibn Abi 'Asim al-Nabil narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Shabib informed us, 'Ikrimah narrated to us, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And supported him," he says: We strengthened [him].
10050 - My father narrated to us, Shihab ibn 'Abbad narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Humayd narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid [regarding] "And supported him," he said: Gabriel aided him. It was also narrated from al-Rabi' ibn Anas: similar to this.
His saying, Exalted is He: "with soldiers you did not see."
10051 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi [regarding] His saying: "with soldiers you did not see," he said: They are the angels.
His saying, Exalted is He: "And He made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allah is the highest," the verse.
10052 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And He made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest," and it is associating partners with Allah; "while the word of Allah is the highest," he said: [It is] there is no god but Allah.
عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ: الطُّمَأْنِينَةُ.
وَهِيَ مِثْلُ الأُخْرَى فَأَنْزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ قَدْ ذُكِرَ بِالاسْتِقْصَاءِ فِي الْبَقَرَةِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: عَلَيْهِ.
١٠٠٤٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يُونُسَ وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ وَالسِّيَاقُ لإِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالا: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ سِيَاهٍ عَنْ حَبِيبِ ابْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ: نَزَلَتْ عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ، فَأَمَّا النَّبِيُّ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- فَكَانَتْ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَيْهِ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ.
١٠٠٤٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَمَّادٍ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ: عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ- صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- لَمْ تَزَلْ السَّكِينَةُ مَعَهُ.
١٠٠٤٨ - ذُكِرَ عَنْ يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ:
فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَيْهِ أَيْ: عَلَى رَسُولِهِ وَعَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَأَيَّدَهُ.
١٠٠٤٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ النبيل ثنا أَبِي أَنَا شَبِيبٌ ثنا عِكْرِمَةُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فأيدنا يَقُولُ: قَوَّيْنَا.
١٠٠٥٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا شِهَابُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ وَأَيَّدَهُ قَالَ: أَعَانَهُ جِبْرِيلُ- وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ: نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: بِجُنُودٍ لَمْ تَرَوْهَا.
١٠٠٥١ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ فِيمَا كتاب إِلَيَّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنِ السُّدَّيِّ قَوْلُهُ: بِجُنُودٍ لَمْ تَرَوْهَا قَالَ: هُمُ الْمَلائِكَةُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا السُّفْلَى وَكَلِمَةُ اللَّهِ هِيَ الْعُلْيَا الْآيَةَ
١٠٠٥٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا السُّفْلَى وَهُوَ الشِّرْكُ بِاللَّهِ، وَكَلِمَةُ اللَّهِ هِيَ الْعُلْيَا قَالَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ.
