His saying, the Exalted: "It distresses them."
10309 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid reported to us, Yazid narrated to us, from Sa‘id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "If good befalls you, it distresses them," he says: If there is a victory for the Muslims, that weighs heavily upon them and distresses them.
His saying, the Exalted: "But if disaster strikes you."
10310 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "But if disaster strikes you," he said: Trial and intensity.
His saying, the Exalted: "They say, 'We had taken our precaution before.'"
10311 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "We had taken our precaution before," he said: Our caution.
10312 - ‘Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali narrated to us, ‘Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding "We had taken our precaution before," he said: We had taken our precaution in remaining behind before disaster could strike them.
His saying, the Exalted: "And they turn away while they are rejoicing."
10313 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan Zunayj reported to us, Salamah ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said regarding His saying: "And they turn away," he said: In a state of disbelief.
His saying, the Exalted: "Say, 'Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our protector.' And upon Allah let the believers rely."
10314 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: Allah says to His Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—: "Say, 'Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us.'"
10315 - It is mentioned from Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna, ‘Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Muslim ibn Yasar, who said: Speech regarding the Divine Decree (Qadar) is two vast valleys; people perish in them, and their depths are unfathomable.
