and those who follow me.”
He said: "It is an obligation, by Allah, upon anyone who follows him to invite to the same as what he invited to, and to remind [others] with the Qur’an, wisdom, and fair preaching, and to forbid the acts of disobedience to Allah.”
His saying, the Exalted: "And exalted is Allah; and I am not of the polytheists."
The interpretation of "exalted" (subhan) has preceded more than once. And Allah knows best.
His saying, the Exalted: "And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed [from among the people of cities]."
12051 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-‘Ala’ Abu Kurayb narrated to us, ‘Uthman ibn Sa‘id narrated to us, Bishr ibn ‘Umara narrated to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: "'And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed [from among the people of cities],' meaning: they are not from the people of the heaven, as you have claimed."
His saying, the Exalted: "From among the people of cities."
12052 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu al-Jamahir narrated to us, Sa‘id narrated to us, Qatada narrated to us, regarding His saying: "'And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed, from among the people of cities,' he said: We do not know that Allah sent a messenger ever except from among the people of cities, because they were more knowledgeable and more forbearing than the people of the nomadic tents."
His saying: "Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them?"
12053 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Musa ibn Muhallim narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, ‘Abbad ibn Mansur narrated to us, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "'And observed how was the end of those before them,' he said: They observe how Allah punished the people of Nuh, the people of Lut, the people of Salih, and the nations whom Allah punished."
His saying, the Exalted: "And the home of the Hereafter is best for those who fear [Allah], then will you not reason?"
12054 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu‘awiya ibn Salih narrated to me, from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talha, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "'And the home of the Hereafter is best,' he says: It is everlasting."
12056 - My father narrated to us, al-Haytham ibn Yaman narrated to us, Isma‘il ibn Zakariyya narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Awn al-Khurasani narrated to me, from ‘Ikrama regarding His saying: "'And the home of the Hereafter,' he says: It is Paradise."
وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَنِي
قَالَ: وَحَقٌّ وَاللَّهِ عَلَى مَنِ اتَّبَعَهُ أَنْ يدعوا إلى مثل ما دعى إِلَيْهِ وَيُذَكِّرُ بِالْقُرْآنِ وَالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ وَيَنْهَى، عَنْ مَعَاصِي اللَّهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وما أنا من المشركين.
قد تقدم تفسير سبحان غَيْرَ مَرَّةٍ. وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ إِلا رِجَالا نُوحِي إِلَيْهِمْ.
١٢٠٥١ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ إِلا رِجَالا نُوحِي إِلَيْهِمْ من أهل القرى أَيْ: لَيْسُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ كَمَا قُلْتُمْ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقُرَى.
١٢٠٥٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ ثنا قَتَادَةُ قَوْلُهُ:
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُوحِي إِلَيْهِمْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقُرَى قَالَ: وَمَا نَعْلَمُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ أَرْسَلَ رَسُولا قَطُّ إِلا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقُرَى، لأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا أَعْلَمَ وَأَحْلَمَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعَمُودِ.
قَوْلُهُ: أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ فَيَنْظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الذين من قبلهم
١٢٠٥٣ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَلِّمٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ، ثنا عَبَّادُ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَيَنْظُرُوا كيف كان عاقبة الذين من قبلهم قَالَ: فَيَنْظُرُوا كَيْفَ عَذَّبَ اللَّهُ قَوْمَ نُوحٍ، وَقَوْمَ لُوطٍ وَقَوْمَ صَالِحٍ، وَالأُمَمَ الَّتِي عَذَّبَ اللَّهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَدَارُ الآخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ لِلَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا أَفَلا تَعْقِلُونَ.
١٢٠٥٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: وَلَدَارُ الآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ يَقُولُ: بَاقِيَةٌ.
١٢٠٥٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ يَمَانٍ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيُّ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَلَدَارُ الآخِرَةِ يَقُولُ: الْجَنَّةُ.
