For the people of religion and the idolaters, to those in the Fire who are the people of Monotheism: 'You believed in Allah, His Books, and His Messengers, yet we and you are equal in the Fire today.' So Allah will become angry for their sake with an anger He has not shown for anything else in the past, and He will bring them out to a spring in Paradise. This is His saying: 'Perhaps those who disbelieve would wish they were Muslims.' (1)
12327 - From Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'When the people of the Fire gather in the Fire, and with them are those whom Allah wills from the people of the Qibla (Muslims), the disbelievers will say to the Muslims: "Were you not Muslims?" They will reply: "Yes." They will say: "Then what has your Islam availed you? For you have ended up with us in the Fire!" They will answer: "We had sins, and we were taken to task for them." Then Allah will hear what they said and will command that everyone who was in the Fire from the people of the Qibla be brought out. When the remaining disbelievers see this, they will say: "Would that we had been Muslims, so that we could be brought out just as they were." Then the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited: I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. "Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Quran. Perhaps those who disbelieve would wish they were Muslims." (2)
12328 - From Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, the perpetrators of major sins among the monotheists of all nations, who died in their major sins without having repented or sought forgiveness, those among them who enter Hell will not have their eyes turn blue, their faces will not blacken, they will not be coupled with devils, they will not be shackled with chains, they will not be made to drink boiling water, and they will not be clothed in tar. Allah has forbidden their bodies from eternal punishment because of their Monotheism, and He has protected their forms from the Fire because of their prostration. Among them are those whom the Fire will take up to their feet, and among them are those whom the Fire will take up to their heels, and among them are those whom the Fire will take up to their thighs, and among them are those whom the Fire will take up to their waists, and among them are those whom the Fire will take up to their necks, according to the extent of their sins and deeds. Among them are those who will remain in it for a month then exit, and among them are those who will remain in it for a year then exit. The longest of them in stay will be for the duration of the world from the day it was created until it ceases to exist. When Allah desires to bring them out of it, the Jews, Christians, and those in the Fire from other religions and idolaters will say to those in the Fire who are the people of Monotheism: 'You believed in Allah, His Books, and His Messengers, yet we and you are equal in the Fire today.' So Allah will become angry for their sake with an anger He has not shown for anything else in the past, and He will bring them out to a spring between Paradise and the Sirat (the Bridge), and they will grow therein like the growth of...
