His saying: "And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein ascending."

12343 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein ascending," he says: If We opened a gate from the heaven for them and the angels continued to ascend through it, going back and forth, the people of polytheism would say: "Our eyes have only been dazzled; rather, we have been bewitched and deceived."

His saying: "Our eyes have been dazzled (sukkirat)."

12344 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "Our eyes have been dazzled," he said: Blocked.

His saying: "And indeed, We have placed in the sky, constellations."

12345 - From Qatada regarding "And indeed, We have placed in the sky, constellations," he said: The planets.

12346 - From Abu Salih regarding His saying: "And indeed, We have placed in the sky, constellations," he said: The great planets.

12346 - From Atiyyah regarding "And indeed, We have placed in the sky, constellations," he said: Palaces in the sky where the guards are.

His saying: "And We have protected it from every accursed devil."

12347 - From Qatada, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And We have protected it from every accursed (rajim) devil," he said: The accursed is the one who is driven away (cursed).

His saying: "Except one who steals a hearing."

12348 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "Except one who steals a hearing," meaning he wants to snatch the hearing, like His saying: "Except one who snatches a snatching."

12349 - From al-Dahhak, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "Except one who steals a hearing," he said: It is like His saying: "Except one who snatches a snatching, then there follows him a piercing flame [manifest]." He said: Ibn Abbas used to say: The shooting stars do not kill, but they burn, cause delirium, and wound without killing.
