Salsal is water that falls upon good soil, then recedes from it, causing it to dry out, and then it becomes like thin pottery.
12372 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, he said: Salsal is dry earth that is moistened after it has dried.
12373 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, he said: Salsal is clay mixed with sand.
12374 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, he said: Salsal is that which, when you strike it, it rings (salsala).
12375 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: Salsal is dry earth that makes a ringing sound.
12376 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, he said: Salsal is clay that you squeeze with your hand, and the water comes out from between your fingers.

His saying: "And the jinn We created before from the fire of scorching wind."
