in the night and day. "Or that He would seize them with fear," meaning that He seizes some with punishment and leaves others. This is because He used to punish a town, destroy it, and leave another (1).
12525 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "Or that He would seize them with fear," he said: He diminishes their deeds (2).
12526 - From Ibn Zayd regarding His saying: "Or that He would seize them with fear," he said: It used to be said: al-takhawwuf is diminution... diminishing them from the land and the outskirts (3).
12527 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "Have they not considered what things Allah has created, their shadows inclining to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allah?" He said: Everything has a shadow, and the shadow of everything is its prostration. The right is at the beginning of the day, and the left is at the end of the day (4).
12528 - From al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "Have they not considered what things Allah has created, their shadows inclining," he said: When the shadow shifts, everything prostrates to Allah toward the Qiblah, whether it is a house or a tree. He said: They used to prefer prayer at that time (5).
12529 - From al-Dahhak regarding the verse, he said: When the shadow shifts, there remains no living creature or bird but that it falls down in prostration to Allah (6).
12530 - From Abu Ghalib al-Shaybani, he said: The waves of the sea are its prayer (7).
From Qatadah regarding His saying: "And to Allah prostrates whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth of creatures," he said: He left nothing of His creation except that it worships Him, willingly or unwillingly (8).
12531 - From al-Hasan regarding the verse, he said: Those in the heavens prostrate willingly, and those on the earth [prostrate] willingly and unwillingly (9).
12532 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "And to Him is the religion (din) perpetually (wasiban)," he said: The religion is sincerity, perpetually, [meaning] always (10).

كانوا بالليل والنهار أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ عَلَى تَخَوُّفٍ يَعْنِي إِنَّ يأخذ بعضًا بالعذاب ويترك بعضًا، وذلك أنه كَانَ يعذب القرية فيهلكها ويترك الأخرى «١» .
١٢٥٢٥ - عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ عَلَى تَخَوُّفٍ قَالَ: ينقص مِنَ أعمالهم «٢» .
١٢٥٢٦ - عَنْ ابن زَيْدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ عَلَى تَخَوُّفٍ قَالَ: كَانَ يقال:
التخوف، هُوَ التنقص ... تنقصهم مِنَ البلد والأطراف «٣» .
١٢٥٢٧ - عَنْ قَتَادَة فِي قَوْلِهِ: أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى مَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ مِنْ شيء يتفيؤا ظلاله عن اليمين والشمائل سجدا لله قَالَ: ظل كُلّ شيء فيه، وظل كُلّ شيء سجوده. فاليمين أول النهار وَالشَّمَائِلِ آخر النهار «٤» .
١٢٥٢٨ - عَنْ الضحاك فِي قَوْلِهِ: أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى مَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ يتفيؤا ظِلالُهُ قَالَ: إِذَا فاء الفيء توجه كُلّ شيء ساجدًا لله قبل القبلة مِنْ بيت أو شجر.
قَالَ: فكانوا يستحبون الصلاة عند ذَلِكَ «٥» .
١٢٥٢٩ - عَنْ الضحاك في الآية قَالَ: إِذَا فاء الفيء، لَمْ يبق شيء مِنْ دابة ولا طائر إلا خر لله ساجدًا «٦» .
١٢٥٣٠ - عَنْ أَبِي غالب الشيباني قَالَ: أمواج البحر صلاته «٧» .
عَنْ قَتَادَة فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلِلَّهِ يَسْجُدُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ مَن دَابَّةٍ قَالَ: لَمْ يَدَعْ شَيْئًا مِنْ خَلْقِهِ إِلا عبده لَهُ طائعًا أو كارهًا «٨» .
١٢٥٣١ - عَنْ الحسن في الآية قَالَ: يسجد مِنْ في السماوات طوعًا، ومن في الأَرْض طوعًا وكرهًا «٩» .
١٢٥٣٢ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلَهُ الدِّينُ وَاصِبًا قَالَ الدِّينُ الإخلاص واصبا دائما. «١٠»
