12683 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "And We gave him good in this world," he said: "A truthful tongue (a good reputation)."

12684 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "And We gave him good in this world," he said: "There is no follower of any religion who does not love him and befriend him."

His saying, the Almighty: "The Sabbath was only appointed for those who differed over it."

12685 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "The Sabbath was only appointed for those who differed over it," he said: "He intended Friday, but they took the Sabbath in its place."

12686 - From as-Suddi regarding His saying: "The Sabbath was only appointed for those who differed over it," he said: "Indeed, Allah enjoined Friday upon the Jews, but they refused and said: 'O Moses, it is that nothing was created on the day of Saturday, so appoint the Sabbath for us.' So when He appointed the Sabbath for them, they made lawful on it that which had been forbidden to them."

12687 - Via the path of as-Suddi, from Abu Malik and Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "The Sabbath was only appointed for those who differed over it," he said: "By their making it lawful. Moses, peace be upon him, saw a man carrying firewood on the Sabbath, so he struck his neck."

His saying, the Almighty: "And argue with them in a way that is better."

12688 - From Mujahid, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And argue with them in a way that is better," he said: "Turn away from their harm toward you."

His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, Allah is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good."

12689 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Bashar narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Ahmad az-Zubayri narrated to us, [saying]: Mis'ar narrated to us, from Ibn 'Awn, from Muhammad ibn Hatib, who said: "'Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, was of those who believed, and those who feared Him, and those who are doers of good."

12690 - From Ibn Zayd, he said: "They had been commanded to overlook the polytheists, and men of strength had embraced Islam, so they said: 'O Messenger of Allah, if Allah would permit us, we would seek victory over these dogs.' So this verse was revealed, and then that was abrogated by jihad."
