first ones and the last ones. He expanded my breast for me, removed my burden from me, exalted my reputation for me, and made me the opener and the sealer.' Abraham, peace be upon him, said: 'By this, Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, has favored you.' Then, three vessels with covered mouths were brought to him. A vessel was brought containing water, and it was said, 'Drink.' He drank a little of it. Then another vessel was brought to him containing milk, and it was said, 'Drink.' He drank of it until he was satisfied. Then another vessel was brought to him containing wine, and it was said to him, 'Drink.' He said, 'I do not want it; I have already been satisfied.' Gabriel, peace be upon him, said to him, 'It will be forbidden for your nation, and had you drunk from it, only a few of your nation would have followed you.' Then he ascended with me to the heaven. He asked for it to be opened, and it was said, 'Who is this, O Gabriel?' He said, 'This is Muhammad.' They asked, 'Has he been sent for?' He said, 'Yes.' They said, 'May Allah greet him as a brother and a successor. What an excellent brother, what an excellent successor, and what a blessed arrival he has made.' He entered and there he was with a man of perfect creation, nothing of whose creation was missing as is missing from the creation of people. On his right was a door from which a pleasant scent exited, and on his left was a door from which a foul scent exited. When he looked at the door on his right, he rejoiced and laughed, and when he looked at the door on his left, he wept and grieved. I said, 'O Gabriel, who is this?' He said, 'This is your father Adam, and this door on his right is the door of Paradise; when he looks at those of his offspring who enter it, he laughs and rejoices. The door on his left is the door of Hell; when he looks at those who enter it, he weeps and grieves.' Then Gabriel, peace be upon him, ascended with me to the second heaven. He asked for it to be opened. It was said, 'Who is this with you?' He said, 'Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.' They asked, 'Has he been sent for?' He said, 'Yes.' They said, 'May Allah greet him as a brother and a successor. What an excellent brother, what an excellent successor, and what a blessed arrival he has made.' There he was with two young men. He said, 'O Gabriel, who are these two?' He said, 'Jesus, son of Mary, and John, son of Zechariah.' Then he ascended with him to the third heaven. He asked for it to be opened, and they said, 'Who is this?' He said, 'Gabriel.' They said, 'And who is with you?' He said, 'Muhammad.' They said, 'Has he been sent for?' He said, 'Yes.' They said, 'May Allah greet him as a brother and a successor. What an excellent brother, what an excellent successor, and what a blessed arrival he has made.' He entered, and there he was with a man who had been favored over the people in beauty as the moon on the night of the full moon is favored over the rest of the stars. He said, 'Who is this, O Gabriel?' He said, 'This is your brother Joseph, peace be upon him.' Then he ascended with me to the fourth heaven. He asked for it to be opened, and it was said, 'Who is this?' He said, 'Gabriel.' They said, 'And who is with you?' He said, 'Muhammad.' They said, 'Has he been sent for?' He said, 'Yes.' They said, 'May Allah greet him as a brother and a successor. What an excellent brother, what an excellent successor, and what a blessed arrival he has made.' He entered, and there he was with a man. He said, 'Who is this, O Gabriel?' He said, 'This is Idris, whom Allah raised to a high station.' Then he ascended to the fifth heaven. He asked for it to be opened, and it was said, 'Who is this?' He said, 'Gabriel.' It was said, 'And who is with you?' He said, 'Muhammad.' They said, 'Has he been sent for?' He said, 'Yes.' They said, 'Welcome to him. May Allah greet him as a brother and a successor. What an excellent brother, what an excellent successor, and what a blessed arrival he has made.'
