His saying, the Almighty: "Then do not say to them, 'Uff'"
13232 - From al-Suddi, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding the verse: "Then do not say to them, 'Uff'" - meaning anything besides that.
His saying, the Almighty: "And speak to them a noble word"
13233 - From Urwah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And speak to them a noble word," he said: "When they call you, say: 'At your service and in your obedience.'"
13234 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And speak to them a noble word," he said: "A gentle and soft word."
13235 - From Abu al-Madaj al-Tujibi, he said: I said to Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, may Allah be pleased with him: "All that is mentioned in the Quran regarding the kindness to parents, I have understood, except for His saying: 'And speak to them a noble word.' What is this noble word?" Ibn al-Musayyib said: "The speech of a sinful servant to a harsh master."
His saying, the Almighty: "And lower to them the wing of humility"
13236 - From Urwah, regarding His saying: "And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy," he said: "Be gentle with them so that they are not denied anything they love."
13237 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy," he says: "Submit to your parents just as a servant submits to a harsh and severe master."
13238 - From Ata ibn Rabah, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy," he said: "Do not raise your hands above them when you speak to them."
13239 - From Urwah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy," he said: "If they make you angry, do not look at them sharply, for the first thing that reveals a person's anger is the intensity of his look at the one he is angry with."
His saying, the Almighty: "And say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small'"
13240 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "And say, 'My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small,'" then Allah revealed after this: "It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were relatives."
