His saying, the Almighty: "Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves."

13241 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves," he said: "It refers to the impulsive thought that occurs from the child toward the parent. Allah said: 'If you should be righteous'—meaning that the intention is sincere in being kind to them—'then indeed He is ever, to the oft-returning to Him, Forgiving,' for the impulsive thought that occurred from him."

His saying, the Almighty: "Then indeed He is ever, to the oft-returning to Him"

13242 - From al-Dahhak, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "Then indeed He is ever, to the oft-returning to Him," he said: "Those who return from sin to repentance, and from evil deeds to good deeds."

13243 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "To the oft-returning to Him," he said: "To the obedient and the righteous."

13244 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "To the oft-returning to Him," he said: "To those who repent."

His saying, the Almighty: "And give the relative his right"

13245 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "And give the relative his right," he said: "He commanded him with the most binding of rights, and taught him how to act when he has something, and how to act when he does not. He said: 'And if you turn away from them'—seeking mercy from your Lord—he said: 'When they ask you and you have nothing, you wait for provision from Allah, then say to them a gentle word.' He says: 'It will happen, God willing,' as if it were a promise. Sufyan, may Allah have mercy on him, said: 'And a promise from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is a debt.'"

13246 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: "And give the relative his right"—the verse—he said: "It is that you uphold the relative, feed the poor, and show kindness to the wayfarer."

13247 - From al-Suddi, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding the verse, he said: "Some people from the Banu Abd al-Muttalib used to come to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, asking him. If they found something with him, he would give it to them; and if they did not find anything with him, he would remain silent. He would not say 'yes' to them, nor 'no.' And the 'near relative' refers to the relatives of the son of Abd al-Muttalib."
