الترجمة · EN

13282 - From Mujahid, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: 'Al-Qistas' is justice in the Roman language.

13283 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding [the verse]: 'and weigh with the straight scale [al-qistas]', he said: 'The qabban [steelyard/balance].'

13284 - From al-Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding [the verse]: 'and weigh with the straight scale', he said: 'With iron.'

His saying, the Almighty: 'And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart—about all those [one] will be questioned.'

13285 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: 'And do not pursue [la taqfu]', he said: 'Do not say.'

13286 - From Ibn al-Hanafiyyah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge', he said: 'False testimony.'

13287 - From al-Suddi, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge', he said: 'This refers to slander. When the verse was revealed, there was no prescribed punishment for it; one was merely asked about it on the Day of Resurrection. Then, this verse regarding the punishment for slander was revealed [prescribing] eighty lashes.'

13288 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge', he said: 'Do not say: "I heard," when you did not hear, and do not say: "I saw," when you did not see, for Allah will question you about all of that.'

13289 - From Ikrimah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart—about all those [one] will be questioned,' he says: 'His hearing and his sight will bear witness against him.'

13290 - From Amr ibn Qubays, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'About all those [one] will be questioned,' he said: 'It will be said to the ear on the Day of Resurrection: "Did you hear?" And it will be said to the eye: "Did you see?" And it will be said to the heart: "Similar to that."

His saying, the Almighty: 'And do not walk upon the earth exultantly. Indeed, you will never tear the earth [apart], and you will never reach the mountains in height.'

13291 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'And do not walk upon the earth exultantly.'
