So Allah revealed: "Those whom they invoke seek means of access to their Lord"—both (verbs) with the letter ya.'

His saying, the Almighty: 'And [remember] when We told you, "Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people."

13319 - From al-Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'And [remember] when We told you, "Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people"', he said: 'He protected you from the people.'

13320 - From Mujahid, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people', he said: 'They are in His grasp.'

13321 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: 'Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people', he said: 'He has encompassed them, so He is your protector against them and your guardian until you convey His message.'

13322 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His saying: 'And We did not make the vision which We showed you except as a trial for the people', he said: 'It is a vision of the eye which the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was shown on the night he was taken on the night journey (Isra) to Bayt al-Maqdis, and it is not a dream of sleep.' And regarding 'the cursed tree in the Quran', he said: 'It is the tree of Zaqqum.'
