His saying: "stretching its forelegs at the entrance."

12744 - From Abd Allah ibn Humayd al-Makki regarding His saying: "And their dog, stretching its forelegs at the entrance," he said: "He set its provision in the licking of its forelegs."

His saying: "at the entrance."

12745 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "at the entrance," he said: "At the courtyard."

12746 - From Atiyyah regarding His saying: "at the entrance," he said: "At the courtyard of the cave door."

12747 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "at the entrance," he said: "At the level ground."

His saying: "If you had looked at them, you would have turned from them in flight and been filled with terror of them."

12748 - From Shahr ibn Hawshab, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: "I had a companion who was stout-hearted. He passed by the side of their cave and said: 'I will not leave until I look at them.' It was said to him: 'Do not do so... do you not read: "If you had looked at them, you would have turned from them in flight and been filled with terror of them"?' But he refused except to look. So he climbed to overlook them, his eyes turned white, and his hair changed. He would tell people afterward: 'Their number is seven.'"

His saying: "purest food"

12749 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "purest food," he said: "The most lawful meat, for they used to slaughter for the idols."

Ibn Abi Shaybah and Ibn al-Mundhir recorded from Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "purest food," meaning: "Most clean, because they used to slaughter swine."

His saying: "And thus We caused them to be discovered."

12750 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "And thus We caused them to be discovered," he said: "We made them known."

12751 - From al-Suddi, he said: "The king summoned the elders of his people and asked them about their affair. They said: 'There was a king named Decius, and some youths went missing during his time. He had written their names on a stone that was at the door of the city.' He called for the stone and read it, and their names were on it. The king rejoiced greatly and said: 'These were people who had died and were resurrected.' Then it spread among them that Allah resurrects the dead. That is His saying: 'And thus We caused them to be discovered, that they might know that the promise of Allah is truth and that the Hour is beyond doubt.' The king said: 'I will certainly build a mosque at the place of these righteous people and I will worship Allah there until I die.' That is His saying: 'Those who prevailed over their affair said: "We will surely build a mosque over them."'
