12922 - From Qatadah, he said: It used to be recited in the first variant: "Every seaworthy ship by force." He said: He would only take the best of the ships.
His saying: "And as for the boy, his parents were believers."
12923 - From Shu'ayb al-Jaba'i, he said: The name of the boy whom al-Khidr killed was Jaysur.
12924 - From Ibn Abbas that he used to recite: "And as for the boy, he was a disbeliever, and his parents were believers."
His saying: "So we feared."
12925 - From al-Suddi regarding His saying: "So we feared," he said: "We were apprehensive."
From Qatadah, he said: It is in the mushaf of Abdullah: "So your Lord feared that he might overwhelm them with rebellion and disbelief."
12926 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "So we feared that he might overwhelm them with rebellion and disbelief," he said: "We feared that his love would carry them to follow him in his religion."
12927 - From Matar regarding the verse, he said: "If he had remained, his existence would have been their ruin and destruction."
12928 - From Qatadah, he said: Mutarrif ibn al-Shikhkhir said: "We know that they were happy with him the day he was born and grieved for him the day he was killed. If he had lived, his existence would have been their destruction. So let a man be pleased with what Allah has apportioned for him, for Allah's decree for the believer is better than his decree for himself, and Allah's decree for you regarding what you dislike is better than His decree for you regarding what you love."
His saying: "...a better one in purity and closer in affection."
12929 - From 'Atiyyah regarding His saying: "a better one in purity," he said: "in religion." And "closer in affection," he said: "in love." He was replaced by a girl who gave birth to a prophet.
