12964 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "He found it rising upon a people" (the verse), he said: "They are said to be the Zanj."
12965 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the verse, he said: "It rises upon people who are reddish and short; their dwellings are caves, and fish are provided to them, which constitutes most of their livelihood."

12966 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "With knowledge of what he had," he said: "Knowledge."

12967 - From 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, he said: We came to the Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) one day while he was in a leather dome. He came out to us, praised Allah, and then said: "I give you glad tidings that you are one-quarter of the people of Paradise." We said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "I give you glad tidings that you are one-third of the people of Paradise." We said: "Yes, O Prophet of Allah?" He said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I hope that you will be half of the people of Paradise. Your likeness among the rest of the nations is like a white hair on the side of a black bull, or a black hair on the side of a white bull. Indeed, after you are Gog and Magog; a man among them leaves behind him one thousand offspring or more. And behind them are three nations: Mansik, Tawil, and Taris; no one knows their number except Allah."
12968 - From the path of al-Bakkali, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar, he said: "Allah divided the angels, humans, and jinn into ten parts. Nine parts of them are the angels, and one part consists of the jinn and humans. And He divided the angels into ten parts; nine parts of them are the Cherubim who glorify Him night and day and do not tire, and one part is for His messages, His treasuries, and whatever He wills of His command. And He divided the humans and jinn into ten parts; nine of them are the jinn, and humans are one part, so no human is born except that nine jinn are born. And He divided the humans into ten parts; nine of them are Gog and Magog, and one part is the rest of mankind. And the heaven with its orbits, he said: It is the seventh heaven, and the Sanctuary is adjacent to the Throne."

١٢٩٦٤ - عَنْ قَتَادَة فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَجَدَهَا تَطْلُعُ عَلَى قوم الآية. قَالَ: يقال لَهُمْ الزنج «١» .
١٢٩٦٥ - عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ في الآية قَالَ: تطلع عَلَى قوم حمر قصار، ماكنهم الغيران، فيلقى لَهُمْ سمك أكثر معيشتهم «٢» .
قوله: بِمَا لَدَيْهِ خُبْرًا
١٢٩٦٦ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: بِمَا لَدَيْهِ خُبْرًا قَالَ: علما «٣» .
قوله: يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ
١٢٩٦٧ - عَنْ عَبْد الله بن مسعود قَالَ: أتينا نَبِيّ الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يومًا وهو في قبة أدم لَهُ، فخرج إلينا فحمد الله، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «أبشركم أنكم ربع أَهْل الْجَنَّة. فقلنا: نعم يا رَسُول الله؟ فقال: أبشركم أنكم ثلث أَهْل الْجَنَّة. فقلنا:
نعم يا نَبِيّ الله؟ قَالَ: والذي نفسي بيده، إِنِّي لارْجُو إِنَّ تَكُونُوا نِصْف أَهْل الْجَنَّة إِنَّ مثلكم في سائر الأمم كمثل شعرة بيضاء في جنب ثور أسود، أو شعرة سوداء في جنب ثور أبيض، إِنَّ بعدكم يأجوج ومأجوج، إِنَّ الرجل منهم ليترك بعده مِنَ الذرية ألفًا فَمَا زاد، وإن وراءهم ثلاث أمم: منسك وتاويل وتاريس لا يعلم عدتهم إلا الله» .
١٢٩٦٨ - مِنْ طَرِيق البكالي، عَنْ عَبْد الله بن عمر قَالَ: إِنَّ الله جزأ الملائكة والإِنْس وَالْجِنّ عشرة أجزاء، تسعة أجزاء منهم الملائكة، وجزء وَاحِدٍ الجِنّ والإِنْس وجزأ الملائكة عشرة أجزاء، تسعة أجزاء منهم الكروبيون الذين يسبحون الليل والنهار لا يفترون، وجزء وَاحِدٍ لرسالاته ولخزائنه وما يشاء مِنَ أمره. وجزأ الإِنْس وَالْجِنّ عشرة أجزاء، فتسعة منهم الجِنّ، والإِنْس جزء وَاحِدٍ فلا يولد مِنَ الإِنْس ولد إلا ولد مِنَ الجِنّ تسعة. وجزأ الإِنْس عشرة أجزاء، تسعة منهم يأجوج ومأجوج، وجزء سائر الناس والسماء ذات الحبك قَالَ السَّمَاء السابعة والحرم بحيالة العرش «٤»
