"O Allah, we have no power against them, nor any strength, so suffice us against them in any way You will." Allah will send upon them worms called al-naghaf, which will seize them by the backs of their necks and kill them until the earth becomes putrid from their stench. Then Allah will send birds that will carry their bodies away to the sea. Allah will then send down rain for forty days, which will make the earth sprout, until a single pomegranate will be enough to satisfy an entire household."
His saying: "And We shall leave some of them on that day to surge like waves against others."
12990 - From al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And We shall leave some of them on that day to surge like waves against others," he said: "This is the first day of Resurrection, then the Trumpet will be blown in the wake of that."
12991 - By way of Harun b. 'Antarah, from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And We shall leave some of them on that day to surge like waves against others," he said: "The Jinn and mankind will surge against one another."
12992 - From Harun b. 'Antarah, from an elder of Banu Fazarah regarding His saying: "And We shall leave some of them on that day to surge like waves against others," he said: "When the Jinn and mankind surge against one another, Iblis will say: 'I shall acquire knowledge of this matter for you.' He will travel to the East and find the angels have surrounded the earth; then he will travel to the West and find the angels have surrounded the earth; then he will travel to the right and left until he reaches the extremities of the earth and finds the angels have surrounded the earth. He will say: 'There is no escape.' While he is in that state, a path appears to him like a flame of fire, so he and his offspring take it.
While he is in that state, he suddenly comes upon the Fire, and one of the keepers of the Fire emerges to him and says: 'O Iblis, did you not have a high position with your Lord? Were you not in the Gardens?' He replies: 'This is not a day for blame. If Allah had obligated me with worship, I would have worshipped Him with a worship no one among His creation has ever performed.' He says: 'Indeed, Allah has obligated you with an obligation.' He asks: 'What is it?' He says: 'He commands you to enter the Fire.'
He hesitates, so he [the angel] takes him and his offspring by his wing and casts them into the Fire. Then Hell will heave a heave such that no angel brought near nor any messenger prophet will remain except that he will fall upon his knees."
12993 - From Ya'qub, from Harun b. 'Antarah, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding: "And We shall leave some of them on that day to surge like waves against others," he said: "The Jinn and mankind, surging against one another."
