His saying: "let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord."
- From Sa'id regarding His saying: "So whoever hopes for the meeting with his Lord," he said: The reward of his Lord, "let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner," he said: Let him not show off by "the worship of his Lord with anyone."
- From Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "So whoever hopes for the meeting with his Lord," he said: Whoever fears the Resurrection in the Hereafter, "let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord," [from among] His creation.
- From Kathir ibn Ziyad, he said: I said to al-Hasan, regarding the saying of Allah: "So whoever hopes for the meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord," he said: It was revealed concerning the believer. I said: Did he associate anyone with Allah? He said: No, but he associated with that deed another deed, intending Allah and the people through it, so that is rejected for him.
- From 'Abd al-Wahid ibn Zayd, he said: I said to al-Hasan: Inform me about showing off (riya'), is it polytheism? He said: Yes, my son. Do you not read: "let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord?"
- From Shaddad ibn Aws: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "I fear for my nation polytheism and hidden desire. I said: Will my nation associate partners after you? He said: Yes. As for them, they will not worship a sun, nor a moon, nor a stone, nor an idol, but they will show off to people through their deeds. I said: O Messenger of Allah, and what is the hidden desire? He said: One of them will wake up fasting, then a desire from his desires will manifest itself to him, so he leaves his fasting and falls into his desire."
- From Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, who narrates it from his Lord, He says: "I am the best of partners; so whoever performs a deed in which he associates someone else with Me, then I am innocent of him, and he is the one who associated partners."
