13043 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "We have not made for him before any namesake," he said: "No one was named Yahya (John) before him."

His saying: "And I have reached the extreme of old age."

13048 - From Ibn Zayd regarding "And I have reached the extreme of old age," he said: "The 'ity' (extreme of old age) is that which has become too old from the child-bearing age, as one perceives in himself that there is no fertility in it."
13049 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "And I have reached the extreme of old age," he says: "Senility."
13050 - From al-Thawri, he said: "It has reached me that Zechariah was seventy years old."

His saying: "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, [being] sound."
13053 - From Ibn Zayd regarding the verse, he said: "His tongue was restrained so that he could not speak to anyone, and while in that state, he would glorify [Allah] and recite the Torah, but if he wanted to speak to the people, he could not speak to them."

١٣٠٤٣ - عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا قَالَ: لَمْ يسم أحد يحيى قبله «١» .
١٣٠٤٤ - عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قوله: لَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ من قبل سميا قَالَ: لَمْ تلد العواقر مثله ولدًا «٢» .
١٣٠٤٥ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا قَالَ: مثلًا «٣» .
١٣٠٤٦ - عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا قَالَ:
شبيهًا «٤» .
قوله: وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ الْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّا
١٣٠٤٧ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ الْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّا قَالَ: نحول العظم «٥» .
١٣٠٤٨ - عَنِ ابْنِ زَيْدٍ وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ الْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّا قَالَ: العتى الّذِي قد عتا مِنَ الولد فيما يرى في نفسه لا ولادة فيه «٦» .
١٣٠٤٩ - عَنْ قَتَادَة فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ الْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّا يَقُولُ: هرمًا «٧» .
١٣٠٥٠ - عَنِ الثوري قَالَ: بلغني إِنَّ زكريا كَانَ ابن سبعين سنة «٨» .
١٣٠٥١ - عَنِ ابْنِ المبارك وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ الْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّا قَالَ ستين سنة «٩» .
١٣٠٥٢ - عَنْ عَبْد الله بن عقيل أنه قرأ «وقد بلغت مِنَ الكبر عسيا» بالسين ورفع العين. «١٠»
قوله: آيَتُكَ أَلا تَكَلَّمَ النَّاسَ ثَلاثَ لَيَالٍ سَوِيًّا
١٣٠٥٣ - عَنِ ابْنِ زَيْدٍ في الآية قَالَ: حبس لسانه فكان لا يستطيع إِنَّ يكلم أحدًا، وهو في ذَلِكَ يسبح ويقرأ التوراة، فإذا أراد كلام الناس لَمْ يستطع إِنَّ يكلمهم. «١١»
