misery in the Hereafter." Then he recited: "So whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray nor suffer," and he said: "He will not go astray in the world, nor suffer in the Hereafter."
His saying, the Exalted: "Then indeed for him is a depressed life."
13562 - From Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) regarding His saying: "Then indeed for him is a depressed life," he said: The depressed life that He spoke of is that Allah empowers ninety-nine serpents upon him to bite his flesh until the Hour is established.
13563 - From Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) regarding His saying: "Then indeed for him is a depressed life," he said: The punishment of the grave.
13564 - From Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), he said: "The believer in his grave is in a green garden, and his grave is expanded for him seventy cubits, and it shines until it becomes like the moon on the night of the full moon. Do you know concerning what this was revealed: 'Then indeed for him is a depressed life'?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said: "The punishment of the disbeliever in his grave, as ninety-nine dragons are empowered upon him. Do you know what a dragon is? Ninety-nine serpents, for each serpent seven heads; they scratch him, sting him, and blow into his body until the day they are resurrected."
13565 - From Ibn Mas'ud, he said: When I narrate a hadith to you, I will inform you of its confirmation from the Book of Allah. Indeed, when the believer is placed in his grave, he is made to sit, and it is said to him: "Who is your Lord, what is your religion, and who is your Prophet?" Then Allah keeps him steadfast, so he says: "My Lord is Allah, my religion is Islam, and my Prophet is Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)." So his grave is expanded for him, and it is made fragrant for him. Then 'Abdullah recited: "Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in the worldly life and in the Hereafter." And when the disbeliever dies, he is made to sit in his grave, and it is said to him: "Who is your Lord, what is your religion, and who is your Prophet?" So he says: "I do not know." He said: Then his grave is straitened for him, and he is punished in it. Then he recited: "And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a depressed life."
13566 - Narrated from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "A depressed life," he said: Misery.
13567 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "A depressed life," he said: With severity upon him in the Fire.
