11656 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, [who said that] Allah says: "And remembered after a while," meaning: after a period of time.
The second interpretation:
11657 - My father narrated to us, Hudbah ibn Khalid narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, from Qatadah, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, that he read: "And remembered after a while (ummah)." And Qatadah interprets it as: after forgetting.
11658 - My father narrated to us, Nasr narrated to us, he said: My father informed me, from Hammam, from Qatadah, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, that he read: "after a while (ummah)." He said: after forgetting.
The third interpretation:
11659 - My father narrated to us, Nasr ibn ‘Ali narrated to us, my father informed me, from Khalid ibn Qays, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan, that he read: "And remembered after a while (ummah)." He said: after a group (ummah) of people.
His saying, the Exalted: "I will inform you of its interpretation."
11660 - My father narrated to us, Bishr ibn Hilal al-Sawwaf narrated to us, Ja‘far ibn Sulayman narrated to us, who said: Malik ibn Dinar said: Al-Hasan used to read this verse, "I will bring you its interpretation." It was said to him: "O Abu Sa‘id, [it is] 'I will inform you of its interpretation.'" He said: "Was he their prophet?"
His saying: "So send me."
11661 - ‘Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn narrated to us, ‘Amir narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, [regarding] his saying: "I will inform you of its interpretation, so send me," Ibn ‘Abbas said: "The prison was not in the city," so the cupbearer went to Joseph.
His saying: "Joseph, O man of truth, explain to us about seven fat cows."
11662 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, Sa‘id ibn Bashir informed us, Qatadah narrated to us, [regarding] his saying: "Explain to us about seven fat cows," and they are: the fertile years.
His saying, the Exalted: "being eaten by seven lean ones."
11663 - And by the same chain, Qatadah narrated to us regarding his saying: "being eaten by seven lean ones," and they are the drought-stricken, barren years.
