الترجمة · EN

His saying, the Exalted: "And thus We established Joseph in the land."

11719 - 'Abd Allah narrated to us, al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Amir narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi: "And thus We established Joseph in the land," he said: So he employed him over Egypt, and he became the one in charge of its affairs, the one who handled sales and commanded.

11720 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq: "Indeed, I am a guardian, knowledgeable" of what you have entrusted me with. He said: He did so, and he appointed him, according to what they mention, to the position of Potiphar, and Potiphar was removed from what he held.

11721 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi reported to us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the saying of Allah: "We established Joseph in the land," he said: We made him sovereign in it.

His saying, the Exalted: "...settling therein wherever he wills."

11722 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "...settling therein wherever he wills," he says: He descends in it wherever he wills.

11723 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi reported to us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "...settling therein wherever he wills," he said: We made him sovereign in it, he is in it wherever he wills of this world, he does in it what he wills, it was delegated to him. He said: And if he wished to place Pharaoh under his authority, and place him above, he could have done so.

His saying: "We bestow Our mercy upon whom We will," the verse.

11723 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq who said: They mentioned, and Allah knows best, that Potiphar died during those nights, and that the King al-Rayyan married Joseph to Potiphar's wife, Ra'il. And that when she was brought to him, he said: "Is this not better than what you desired?" He said: They claim that she said: "O truthful one, do not blame me, for I was a woman as you see, a beautiful, lovely, and comfortable woman in royalty and worldly goods, and my husband did not approach women, and I was as Allah created you in your beauty and form, so my soul overcame me regarding what you saw." They claim that he found her a virgin, so he had relations with her and she bore him two men.
