13661 - From Rifa'ah ibn Rafi' al-Zuraqi, who said: "A man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what is your opinion regarding our servants whom we strike?' He replied: 'Your sins and your punishment of them will be weighed. If your punishment exceeds their sins, retribution will be taken from you.' The man asked: 'What if we insult them?' He replied: 'Their sins and your abuse of them will be weighed. If your abuse of them exceeds their sins, retribution will be given to them from you.' He asked: 'What if I strike my own children, O Messenger of Allah?' He replied: 'You are not suspected regarding your children, and your soul would not be content [if they were treated poorly], for you would be full while they are hungry, and you would be clothed while they are naked.'"
The Statement of the Exalted: "And if there is [the weight of] a mustard seed, We will bring it forth."
13662 - From Mujahid, that he used to recite: "And if there is [the weight of] a mustard seed, We will bring it forth" (wa-in kana mithqala habbatin min khardalin atayna biha), prolonging the alif. He said: "We will render recompense for it."
13663 - From 'Asim ibn Abi al-Najud, that he used to recite: "And if there is [the weight of] a mustard seed, We will bring it forth" (wa-in kana mithqala habbatin min khardalin atayna biha), in the sense of 'We have brought it,' not prolonging [the alif of] 'atayna.'
13664 - From al-Suddi, regarding His statement: "And if there is [the weight of] a mustard seed," he said: "The weight of a seed." And regarding His statement: "And sufficient are We as reckoners," he said: "As enumerators."
The Statement of the Exalted: "And We gave Moses and Aaron the Furqan (Criterion) and a light."
13665 - From Ibn Abbas, regarding His statement: "And We gave Moses and Aaron the Furqan (Criterion) and a light," he said: "Remove this 'waw' (conjunction) and place it among [the description of] those who bear the Throne and those around it."
The Statement of the Exalted: "And this is a blessed Reminder which We have sent down."
13666 - From Qatadah, regarding His statement: "And this is a blessed Reminder which We have sent down," meaning this Qur'an.
13667 - From Maymun ibn Mahran, who said: "There are two things in which there is blessing: the Qur'an and the rain." He then recited: "And We sent down from the sky water... and this is a blessed Reminder."
The Statement of the Exalted: "And We had certainly given Abraham his guidance."
13668 - From Mujahid, regarding His statement: "And We had certainly given Abraham his guidance," he said: "We guided him when he was young." And regarding His statement: "What are these statues?" he said: "The idols."
