14367 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, [who said]: Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, [who said]: Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, [who said]: Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, who said: When the verse of greeting and requesting permission to enter houses was revealed, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Quhafah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah, what about the merchants of Quraysh who travel between Mecca and Medina, and Syria and Jerusalem, and who have known houses along the road? How can they request permission and greet [the inhabitants] when there are no occupants in them?" So Allah granted a concession regarding that, and said: "There is no blame upon you for entering houses not inhabited" without permission.

14368 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: 'Abdah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, [who said]: Ibn al-Mubarak informed us, [who said]: Muhammad ibn Yasar informed us, from Qatadah, regarding "houses not inhabited," [he said]: Meaning: desolate ones. Similar [interpretation] was reported from 'Ikrimah.

His saying, the Exalted: "in which there is a convenience for you."

14368 [bis] - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, [who said]: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, [who said]: 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "in which there is a convenience for you," [he said]: It means: benefits for you against the heat and the cold.

14369 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: 'Abdah narrated to us, [who said]: Ibn al-Mubarak informed us, [who said]: Muhammad ibn Yasar informed us, from Qatadah, regarding "in which there is a convenience for you," [he said]: A benefit for you and a provision.

14370 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman ibn al-Ash'ath narrated to us, [saying]: al-Husayn ibn 'Ali ibn Mihran narrated to us, [who said]: 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, regarding "in which there is a convenience for you," [he said]: A provision for you toward your needs.

14371 - al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, [who said]: Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah al-Harawi informed us, [who said]: Hajjaj informed us, [who said]: Ibn Jurayj said: I heard 'Ata' saying: "in which there is a convenience for you" [means] for relieving oneself and urinating.

His saying: "And Allah knows what you reveal and what you conceal."

14372 - al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, [who said]: Shababah narrated to us, from Warqa', from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "what you conceal," [he said]: What you hide.

His saying: "Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision."

14373 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Salih narrated to us, [who said]: Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision," [he said]: From their desires, [refraining] from what Allah dislikes.
