neither of the East nor of the West.”

He said: Had this olive tree been on earth, it would have been either eastern or western, but Allah struck it as a parable for His light.

The seventh interpretation:

14611 - It was mentioned from Yahya ibn Yaman, from Usamah ibn Zayd, from his father regarding His saying: "Neither of the East nor of the West," he said: [It refers to] al-Sham (the Levant).

His saying, the Exalted: "Its oil would almost glow."

14612 - Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani narrated to me, [saying]: Hafs ibn 'Umar informed us, [saying]: al-Hakam ibn Aban reported from 'Ikrimah regarding His saying: "Its oil would almost glow," he says: Out of the intensity of the light. 'Ikrimah said: That is the parable of the believer.

14613 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Ibrahim ibn al-Hasan ibn al-Haytham al-Miqsam al-Basri reported, [saying]: al-Haytham ibn Jamil reported, [saying]: Ya'qub ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ash'ari reported from Ja'far ibn Abi al-Mughirah, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "Its oil would almost glow," he said: Anyone who saw Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, almost knew that he was the Messenger of Allah, even if he did not speak.

14614 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, [saying]: Zayd ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Tayalisi informed us, [saying]: Ya'qub reported from Ja'far, from Shimr ibn 'Atiyyah, [who] said: Ibn 'Abbas came to Ka'b al-Ahbar and said: Narrate to me about the saying of Allah: "Its oil would almost glow," he said: Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, almost clarifies [the truth] to the people.

14615 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: My father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Its oil would almost glow," he means: fire.

14616 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Asbagh informed [us], [who] said: I heard Ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "Its oil would almost glow," he said: The glow is the brilliance of the oil.

14617 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: 'Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah reported, [saying]: Jarir reported from 'Ata', from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding "Its oil would almost glow," he said: It is the best of oil.

His saying, the Exalted: "And even if fire had not touched it."

14618 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, [saying]: Yazid ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Tayalisi and Abu al-Rabi' informed us
