His saying: "Do you not see that Allah drives clouds?"

14705 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Salih reported to us, [saying]: Mu'awiyah ibn Salih reported to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "drives clouds" (yuzji sahaban), [he] says: [He] drives them.

His saying: "Clouds."

14706 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, [saying]: 'Uqbah reported to us, [saying]: Usamah ibn Zayd reported to me, [saying]: Mu'adh ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Khubayb al-Juhani reported to me, [and he] said: I saw Ibn 'Abbas when Tabi' ibn Imra'at Ka'b passed by him, so he greeted him. Ibn 'Abbas asked him: Did you hear Ka'b say anything regarding the clouds? He replied: Yes, I heard him say: Indeed, the clouds are the sieve of the rain; were it not for the clouds when the water descends from the sky, what it falls upon would be spoiled. He said: I heard Ka'b say: The earth grows vegetation for one year and something else in the next year. He said: Yes, I heard him say: Indeed, the seed descends from the sky. Ibn 'Abbas said: And I heard that from Ka'b [when] he said it.

14707 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, [saying]: 'Ubayd Allah ibn Musa reported to us, from Isra'il, from Jabir, from 'Ata' who said: The clouds emerge from the earth. Then he recited: "It is Allah who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds."

14708 - Ahmad ibn al-Fadl al-'Asqalani narrated to us, [saying]: Bishr ibn Bakr reported to us, [saying]: Umm 'Abd Allah bint Khalid ibn Ma'dan reported to me, from her father, who said: Indeed, in Paradise there is a tree that bears clouds as fruit; as for the black ones among them, that is the fruit which has ripened, and it is that which carries the rain. As for the white ones, they are those which have not ripened and have not carried the rain.

His saying, the Exalted: "Then He brings it together."

14709 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, [saying]: Ishaq ibn Sulayman reported to us, [saying]: I heard Abu Sinan al-Shaybani al-Razi, from Habib ibn Abi Thabit, from 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr, who said: Allah sends the 'Muthirah' (the stirrer), which sweeps the earth completely. Then Allah sends the 'Nashi'ah' (the emergent one), which forms the clouds. Then Allah sends the 'Mu'allifah' (the joiner), which brings them together. Then He sends the 'Lawaqih' (the fertilizing winds), which fertilize the clouds or the trees (Abu Yahya doubted [the wording]).

[His saying: "Then He makes it into a mass."]

[Blank space].

[His saying: "And you see the rain."]

[The first interpretation]

14710 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, [saying]: Hani' ibn Sa'id and Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Harithi reported to us,
