15129 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Abu Yahya al-Himmani reported to us, al-A'mash reported to us, from Hassan Abu al-Ashras, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: Allah revealed the Qur'an on the Night of Decree and it was placed in the House of Might (Bayt al-'Izzah).

His saying (Mighty and Majestic is He): "Why was the Qur'an not sent down to him all at once?"

15130 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab reported to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, Abu Rawq reported to us, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And those who disbelieved said, 'Why was the Qur'an not sent down to him all at once?'" He said: They say: "Why was the Qur'an not sent down to him all at once?"

15131 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali reported to us, 'Amir reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi: "And those who disbelieved said, 'Why was the Qur'an not sent down to him all at once?'" He said: "Why did he not bring it as Musa brought it?" (May Allah bless them both).

His saying (Mighty and Majestic is He): "Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart."

15132 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-'Ala' reported to us, 'Uthman ibn Sa'id reported to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah reported to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas: "'That We may strengthen thereby your heart,' O Muhammad," he says: "To firm up your heart through it and make your heart steadfast, meaning with His revelation which Jibril brought down to you from Allah, and this is how it is done with the messengers before you."

His saying (Mighty and Majestic is He): "And We have spaced it distinctly."

15133 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab reported to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas: Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He) said: "'Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart,' O Muhammad, 'And We have spaced it distinctly,'" he says: "We have sent it down sequentially," meaning: "One thing after another."

15134 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Tahrani informed us in what he wrote to me, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "'And We have spaced it distinctly,'" he said: "He would reveal a verse, or two verses, or verses. He would reveal them as an answer to them whenever they asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) about something, Allah would reveal an answer for them and a response on behalf of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) regarding what they spoke about, and from its beginning to its end was a period of about twenty years."
