15257 - My father narrated to us, Abu al-Darda' 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Munib reported to us, Abu Mu'adh al-Fadl ibn Khalid reported to us, from 'Ubayd ibn Sulayman, from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "And He is the one who has released the two seas," he says: He let one flow over the other, so neither of them changes the taste of the other.

[The first interpretation]
15258 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Ibn Yaman reported to us, from Ash'ath, from Ja'far, from Sa'id regarding: "Released the two seas," he said: The sea of the sky and the sea of the earth.
It was also narrated from 'Atiyyah and Mujahid that they said: A sea in the sky and a sea in the earth.
The second interpretation:
15259 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Ibn Yaman reported to us, from Sufyan, from a man, from al-Hasan regarding: "Released the two seas," he said: The sea of Persia and Byzantium (Rome).
His saying, the Exalted: "This is fresh, sweet, and this is salty, bitter"
15260 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid al-Bayruti informed us by way of recitation, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb ibn Shabur informed me, 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' informed me, from his father, from 'Ata': As for the "furat" (sweet), it is the fresh water. And regarding His saying: "and this is salty, bitter," as for the "ujaj," it is the salty water.
15261 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "and this is salty, bitter," meaning: bitter.
His saying, the Exalted: "And He placed between them a barrier"

15262 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Ibn 'Atiyyah reported to us, from Abu Raja', from al-Hasan regarding: "And He placed between them a barrier," he said: It is the dry land.
15263 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, 'Uqbah narrated to me, from Isra'il, from Jabir, from Mujahid, who said: The barrier is the breadth of the world.
15264 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "a barrier," he said: A partition.
