15349 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Qasim ibn ‘Isa al-Wasiti al-Ta’i reported to us, Hushaym reported to us, from Abu Ishaq al-Kufi, from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "Easily (hawnan)," [he said it is] Syriac, and he said: It is: "hawnan."

His saying, the Exalted: "And when the ignorant address them..."

15350 - My father narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Samad ibn ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Muqri’ reported to us, Jasr reported to us, from al-Hasan regarding the saying of Allah: "And when the ignorant address them," he said: "The believer is forbearing, and if ignorance is displayed towards him, he is forbearing." [This] report is repeated.

15351 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abi Hammad reported to us, Mihran reported to us, from al-Mubarak ibn Mujahid, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak: "And when the ignorant address them, they say, 'peace' (salaman)," he said: "If the ignorant person behaves foolishly towards him, he says: 'Upon you be peace.'"

His saying: "The ignorant (al-jahilun)"

15352 - Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Bukayr reported to us, Ibn Lahi‘ah narrated to me, ‘Ata’ ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "And when the ignorant address them, they say, 'peace'," he said: "It means the fools among the elders."

His saying, the Exalted: "They say, 'peace'"

15353 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu Khalid reported to us, from Sufyan, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "And when the ignorant address them, they say, 'peace'," they said: "Correctness (sadadan)."

15354 - It was read to Yunus ibn ‘Abd al-A‘la, Ibn Wahb reported to us, Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah and Muslim ibn Khalid narrated to me, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding the saying of Allah: "And when the ignorant address them, they say, 'peace'," they said: "Correctness of speech."

15355 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashaj narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Wahhab al-Khaffaf reported to us, from ‘Amr, from al-Hasan: "And when the ignorant address them, they say, 'peace'," he said: "Peace be upon you."

15356 - Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Bukayr reported to us, Ibn Lahi‘ah narrated to me, ‘Ata’ ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "They say, 'peace'," he said: "They responded with kindness."
