His saying, the Exalted: "Say, what would my Lord care for you"
15503 - My father narrated to us, 'Abdah reported to us, Mus'ab—meaning ibn Mahan—reported to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Ya'la, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb regarding His saying: "Say, what would my Lord care for you," he said: What does my Lord have to do with you?
15504 - My father narrated to us, Adam reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "Say, what would my Lord care for you," he says: What does my Lord do with you?
His saying, the Exalted: "If it were not for your supplication"
15505 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih reported to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "If it were not for your supplication," he says: If it were not for your faith. Allah informed the disbelievers that He has no need for them, as He did not create them as believers. And if He had a need for them, He would have made faith beloved to them just as He made it beloved to the believers.
15506 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Usamah reported to us, from Shibl, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "If it were not for your supplication," he said: His invitation to you to worship Him and obey Him.
15507 - My father narrated to me, 'Abdah ibn Sulayman reported to us, Mus'ab ibn Mahan reported to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Ya'la al-Thaqafi, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb regarding His saying: "If it were not for your supplication," he said: If it were not that I invite you to Islam and you respond to Me.
His saying, the Exalted: "For you have denied [the truth]"
15508 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu al-Tahir reported to us, Musa ibn Rabi'ah ibn Musa ibn Suwayd al-Jumahi narrated to me, he said: I heard al-Walid ibn Abi al-Walid saying: It reached me that the interpretation of this verse "Say, what would my Lord care for you if it were not for your supplication, for you have denied [the truth]" is: I did not create you because I have a need for you, except that you ask Me and I forgive, and you ask Me and I give to you.
15509 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Haytham ibn Yaman reported to us, a man reported to us whom he named, from al-Suddi: "For you have denied [the truth]," he says: Referring to Quraysh.
