[His saying, the Almighty and Exalted: Ta-Sin-Mim]

[The first view]

15517 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih the scribe of al-Layth reported to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Ta-Sin-Mim," he said: It is an oath that Allah swore, and it is one of the names of Allah.

15518 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Maqdisi reported to us, a man reported to us whom he named, Muhammad ibn Ishaq reported to us, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b regarding: "Ta-Sin-Mim," he said: The Ta is from al-Tawl (Bounty), the Sin is from al-Quddus (The Holy), and the Mim is from al-Rahman (The Most Merciful).

Al-Suddi said: These are letters of the alphabet from the abbreviated names.

It was narrated from Mujahid that it is an abbreviated spelling.

15519 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Musa reported to us, Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah reported to us, from Abu Bakr al-Hudhali, who said: I certainly saw al-Hasan al-Basri refrain from interpretation when 'Ikrimah came to Basra. I went to al-Hasan one day at his house and found him praying, so I sat with his son until he finished his prayer. When he finished, I came to him and said: O Abu Sa'id, [what of] the saying of Allah, the Almighty and Exalted, in His Book: "Ta-Sin-Mim"? He said: They are openings with which Allah began His Book or the Qur'an.

15520 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Ta-Sin-Mim," he said: It is a name from the names of the Qur'an by which your Lord swore.

His saying: "These"

15521 - Musa ibn Abi Musa al-Ansari narrated to us, Harun ibn Hatim reported to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik regarding His saying: "These" (Tilka), meaning: These.
