15629 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Jarir reported to us, from Ya'qub, from Ja'far, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas who said: The name of Moses' staff was Ma Sha' (Whatever He Wills), and it is with Joshua ibn Nun.
His saying: "And behold, it swallowed up what they falsely invented."
15630 - 'Ammar ibn Khalid narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Husayn and Yazid ibn Harun reported to us, from Asbagh, from al-Qasim, Sa'id ibn Jubayr narrated to me, from Ibn 'Abbas who said: Allah inspired him to throw the staff. When he threw it, it became a great serpent with its mouth agape. He said: By the prayer of Moses, the staff began to engage with the ropes until it became a scythe towards the serpent, until it entered into it, and there did not remain a stick or a rope except that it swallowed it.
His saying: "falsely invented (ya'fikun)."
15631 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "falsely invented (ya'fikun)" - they are lying.
15632 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah: "And behold, it swallowed up what they falsely invented" of their sorcery.
[His saying: So the sorcerers fell down prostrate]

15633 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Yahya al-Razi reported to us, from Musa ibn 'Ubaydah, from Ibn Ka'b who said: The sorcerers whom Allah caused to die as Muslims were eighty thousand.
It was also narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir the like of this.

15634 - My father narrated to me, 'Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah reported to us, Jarir reported to us, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Rufay', from Khaythamah, from Abu Sawdah, from Ka'b who said: The sorcerers of Pharaoh were twelve thousand.
The Third Aspect
15635 - It was mentioned from Zakariya ibn Yahya al-Kisa'i, Abu Bakr ibn 'Ayyash reported to us, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Rufay', from Abu Sabrah, from Ka'b who said: The sorcerers of Pharaoh were nineteen thousand.
