Then Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-Aas and Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab said, and each of them said: "I will not remain here except as a pilgrim (Hajj), an Umrah performer, or for a necessity that cannot be avoided." Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr remained silent and said nothing, and then it was desecrated after that.

13871 - From Ibn Mas'ud, he said: "Whoever intends a sin, it is not written against him until he commits it. If a man, after what I have explained, merely contemplates in his mind deviating in the House—and deviation in it is to make permissible therein what Allah has forbidden—and he dies before he reaches that [act], Allah will make him taste a painful punishment."

His saying, the Almighty: "And [mention] when We designated for Abraham the site of the House."

13872 - By way of Ma'mar, from Qatadah, he said: "Allah placed the House with Adam when He sent Adam down to the earth. The angels stood in awe of it, so it was reduced to sixty cubits. Adam felt sorrow when he lost the voices of the angels and their glorification, so he complained of that to Allah. Allah said: 'O Adam, I have sent down to you a House around which one circles as one circles around My Throne, and at which one prays as one prays at My Throne, so go out to it.' So Adam went out to it, and the distance for him was extended in his stride, such that between every two strides was a wasteland (mafaza). Those wastelands remained after that as they were."

And Adam came and circled it, and those who came after him from the Prophets.

Ma'mar said: Aban informed me that the House was sent down as a single ruby or a single pearl. Ma'mar said: It reached me that the ark of Noah circled the House seven times, until when Allah drowned the people of Noah, it was lost, but its foundation remained. Then Allah designated it for Abraham, so he built it after that. That is His saying: "And [mention] when We designated for Abraham the site of the House." Ma'mar said: Ibn Jurayj said: Some people said: Allah, the Glorified, sent a cloud containing a head, and the head said: "O Abraham, your Lord commands you to take the measure of this cloud." So he began to look at it and outline its measure. He said: The head asked: "Have you done it?" He replied: "Yes." Then it rose, revealing a firm foundation in the earth. Ibn Jurayj said: Mujahid said: The Angel (al-Malak), the Shrike (al-Surad), and the Tranquility (al-Sakinah) accompanied Abraham from Syria. The Tranquility said: "O Abraham, be calm (rid) upon the House." He said: "That is why no bedouin nor any king from these kings circles the House without tranquility and dignity descending upon him."
