His saying, the Almighty: "But they impatiently challenge you to bring the punishment. And Allah will not break His promise. And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count. And how many a city have I given respite while it was committing wrong, then I seized it? And to Me is the final destination."
13984 - From Qatadah, regarding His saying: "But they impatiently challenge you to bring the punishment," he said: People among the ignorant ones of this Ummah said: "O Allah, if this is the truth from You, then rain down upon us stones from the sky or bring us a painful punishment."
13985 - From Ibn Abbas, regarding His saying: "And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count," he said: It is from the six days in which Allah created the heavens and the earth.
13986 - From Ibrahim, he said: The length of that day for the believer is nothing more than the time between the Dhuhr and Asr prayers.
13987 - From Ibn Abbas, he said: The world is one week from the weeks of the Hereafter, seven thousand years; six thousand years have already passed.
13988 - From Muhammad ibn Sirin, from a man from the People of the Scripture who became a Muslim, he said: Allah created the heavens and the earth in six days, and a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count. He set the appointed time for the world as six days and placed the Hour in the seventh day. The six days have passed, and you are in the seventh day. Its example is like a pregnant woman when she enters her ninth month; in whatever hour she gives birth, it is a completion.
13989 - From Safwan ibn Sulaym, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "The poor among the Muslims will enter Paradise before the wealthy among the Muslims by half a day." It was said: "And what is half a day?" He replied: "Five hundred years." And he recited: "And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count."
His saying, the Almighty: "Say, 'O mankind, I am only to you a clear warner.' So those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have forgiveness and noble provision. But the ones who strive against Our verses, seeking to cause failure, those are the companions of the Hellfire."
13990 - From Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi, he said: When you hear Allah saying "noble provision," it is Paradise.
