مجلد 8 · صفحة 57[سورة الحج (٢٢) : الآيات ٥٢ إلى ٥٥]

الترجمة · EN

"noble provision," it is Paradise.

13991 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), regarding His saying: "seeking to cause failure" (mu‘ajizin), he said: They are trying to cause frustration.

13992 - From Ibn al-Zubayr that he used to recite: "But the ones who strive against Our verses, seeking to cause failure (mu‘ajizin)," meaning: hindering.

13993 - From Urwah ibn al-Zubayr that he used to express astonishment at those who recite this verse as: "seeking to cause failure (mu‘ajizin)," saying: "Mu‘ajizin" is not from the speech of the Arabs; it is only "mu‘ajizin" (with a different vocalization), meaning: hindering.

13994 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him), regarding "in our verses, seeking to cause failure (mu‘ajizin)," he said: Hindering, they hinder people from following the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).

13995 - From Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him), regarding: "But the ones who strive against Our verses, seeking to cause failure," he said: They disbelieved in the verses of Allah and thought that they could frustrate Allah, but they will never frustrate Him.

His saying, the Almighty: "And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet"

13996 - From Sa'id ibn Ibrahim ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, he said: Indeed, in what Allah revealed is: "And We did not send before you any messenger, or prophet, nor a muhaddath (one spoken to by angels or inspiration)." And the muhaddathun (the ones spoken to) were: the companion of Yasin, Luqman, and he who was from the family of Pharaoh, and the companion of Musa.

13997 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The prophet alone is the one who is spoken to and to whom it is revealed, but he is not sent.

13998 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr, he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) recited Surat al-Najm in Makkah. When he reached this position: "Have you considered al-Lat and al-‘Uzzah, and Manat, the third, the other one?" the devil cast onto his tongue: "Those are the exalted gharaniq (cranes/idols), and indeed their intercession is to be hoped for." They said: "He has not mentioned our gods with anything good before today." So he prostrated, and they prostrated. Then Gabriel came to him after that and said: "Recite to me what I brought to you." When he reached: "Those are the exalted gharaniq, and indeed their intercession is to be hoped for," Gabriel said to him: "I did not bring you this; this is from the devil." So Allah revealed: "And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet."
