16494 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Thumaylah narrated to us, from Abu al-Munib, from Abu al-Sha'tha' regarding His saying: "Salam" (peace), he said: It is one of the names of Allah.

His saying, the Exalted: "upon His servants whom He has chosen."

16495 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Ubayd ibn Ziyad ibn Nistas narrated to us, al-Hakam ibn Zuhayr narrated to us, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "And peace upon His servants whom He has chosen," he said: They are the companions of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and it has been narrated from al-Suddi and Sufyan al-Thawri something similar.

16496 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed me in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding Allah's saying: "And peace upon His servants whom He has chosen," and he recited: "Peace be upon Noah among the worlds," "Peace be upon Abraham," "Peace be upon the messengers," then he said: "And peace upon His servants whom He has chosen," and he placed them in the [state of] peace equal to the prophets.

His saying, the Exalted: "Is Allah better, or what they associate [with Him]?"

16497 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ibn 'Uyaynah informed us, I heard Sadaqah narrating from al-Suddi, meaning His saying: "what they associate," he says: "about what the polytheists associated."

His saying, the Exalted: "Or [who is it that] created the heavens and the earth?"

16498 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Amr ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, Baqiyyah narrated to us, from Arta'ah, from al-Mu'alla ibn Isma'il, that a man came to Ubayy ibn Ka'b and asked him about the decree (al-Qadar), and he said: "Glory be to Allah the Great. Indeed, Allah created the heavens, and He created good and evil, so He made happy with the good whoever He willed, and He made wretched with the evil whoever He willed."

16499 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "created the heavens," he said: He created the heavens before the earth.

His saying, the Exalted: "And sent down for you from the sky, rain."

Its explanation has already been provided more than once, and Allah knows best.
