it is within it. Then he blows the blast of stunning into it. When he blows the blast of resurrection, Allah says: "By My Might, every soul shall return to its body and its abode... [it is] greater than the seven heavens and the earth." He said: "So He created the Horn on the mouth of Israfil, and he is fixing his gaze, [waiting for] when he is commanded to blow into the Horn."

16623 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "And the Horn will be blown," he said: "In the form of a trumpet (buq)."

16624 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas reported to us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And the Horn will be blown," meaning: among the creation.

16625 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah al-Harawi narrated to us, Hajjaj reported to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid: "The Horn (al-Sur) is the trumpet (al-buq)."

16626 - Mujahid said: "It is a horn (qarn). Its bearer is holding it." Mujahid then grasped his hands together on the rim of the horn, between its two sides, with a distance of a handspan or thereabouts. He knelt on one of his knees, then gestured as he knelt on his left knee, sitting on his heels under his thighs and buttocks, with the tips of his fingers in the earth, having set up his right knee and placed its foot on the earth.

His saying, the Exalted: "And whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will be terrified, except whom Allah wills."

16627 - It was read to Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn 'Uthman al-Dimashqi, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb ibn Shabur reported to us, Abu Rafi' al-Madini (Isma'il ibn Rafi') reported to us, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi, from Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, narrated to us while he was among a group of his companions and said: "Indeed, Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, when He finished creating the heavens, He created the Horn, and He gave it to Israfil. He is keeping it at his mouth, fixing his gaze upon the Throne, waiting for when he is commanded. He will blow into it three times: the first is the blast of terror, the second is the blast of stunning, and the third is the blast of standing before the Lord of the worlds. Allah will command Israfil to sound the first blast and say to him: 'Blow the blast of terror.' So he will blow the blast of terror, and the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth will be terrified, except whom Allah wills. And He will command him, and he will extend it and prolong it, and he will not slacken. This is what Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, refers to: 'And these [people] wait only for one blast, for which there will be no delay.' Allah will move the mountains, and they will pass like the passing of clouds, then He will make them like a mirage. The earth will shake with its inhabitants in a great shaking, and the earth will be like a ship tossing in the sea or like a lamp hanging from the Throne that is being swung."
