His saying, Exalted is He: "He turned to flee."
16891 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi informed us: Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding "He turned to flee," meaning: fleeing from it.
His saying, Exalted is He: "And did not look back. 'O Moses, approach, and do not fear. Indeed, you are of the secure.'"

16892 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us: Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq: "'O Moses, approach, and do not fear.'" When he approached, He said: "'Take it, and do not fear. Insert your hand into its mouth.'" Moses was wearing a woolen cloak, so he wrapped his hand in his sleeve, being in awe of it. Then he was called to cast his sleeve away from his hand, so he cast it away from it. Then he inserted his hand between its jaws, and when he inserted it, he gripped it, and behold, it was his staff in his hand, with his hand between its two branches, just as he used to place it, and its crook was therein in its position, and he did not find anything strange about it.
His saying, Exalted is He: "'Insert your hand into your pocket; it will come out white without disease.'"

16893 - And by the same chain of transmission, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq: Then it was said to Moses: "'Insert your hand into your pocket; it will come out white without disease.'" Moses was a brown-skinned man, hook-nosed, with curly hair and tall. He inserted his hand into his pocket, then brought it out white like snow, then returned it, and it came out as it was before, in its natural color.
His saying, Exalted is He: "'And draw your hand close to yourself from the fear.'"
16894 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi reported to us in what he wrote to me: Asbagh ibn al-Faraj informed me: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam narrated to us regarding the saying of Allah: "'And draw your hand close to yourself,'" and his wing is the forearm; and the upper arm is the wing, and the palm, and the hand.
His saying, Exalted is He: "'From the fear.'"
16895 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us: Shababah narrated to us: Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "'From the fear,'" meaning: from the panic.
16896 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us: Yazid narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "'And draw your hand close to yourself from the fear,'" meaning: from the terror.
