His saying, Exalted is He: "And he and his soldiers were arrogant in the land without right, and they thought that they would not be returned to Us."
16922 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us: 'Uqbah narrated to me, from Isra'il, from Jabir, from Mujahid, he said: Whatever is mentioned as "thought" (zann) in the Qur'an refers to certainty.
His saying, Exalted is He: "So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea."
16922 - Ahmad ibn Yahya ibn Malik al-Susi narrated to us: 'Abd al-Wahhab ibn 'Ata' al-Khaffaf narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea," [he said]: The 'yamm' (sea) is a body of water called Isaf located beyond Egypt, and Allah scattered them within it.
His saying, Exalted is He: "So observe how was the end of the wrongdoers."
Its interpretation and the manner of Pharaoh's drowning in the sea have already been presented.
His saying, Exalted is He: "And We made them leaders inviting to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection they will not be aided."
16923 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us: Hisham ibn Khalid narrated to us: Baqiyyah narrated to us: Mubashshir narrated to me: Zayd ibn Aslam and al-Hajjaj ibn Arta'ah narrated to me, from Mujahid, regarding the saying of Allah, "And We made them leaders inviting to the Fire," he said: Allah made them leaders who invite to acts of disobedience.
16924 - My father narrated to us: Abu Salih narrated to us: Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And do not make us leaders of misguidance," because He said regarding the people of happiness: "And We made them leaders guiding by Our command," and He said regarding the people of wretchedness: "And We made them leaders inviting to the Fire."
His saying, Exalted is He: "And We followed them in this world with a curse, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be of those who are shunned."
16925 - He said: They were cursed in this world and the Hereafter, and it is like His saying: "And they were followed in this (world) with a curse, and on the Day of Resurrection, evil is the gift to be gifted."
