17149 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "For him who believes," meaning: [the one who] professes the oneness of Allah (tawhid).
His saying: "And does righteousness"

17150 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding "And none is granted it except the patient," meaning: Paradise.
His saying: "Except the patient"

His saying: "And We caused the earth to swallow him and his home"
17151 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from al-Minhal, from Sa'id, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And We caused the earth to swallow him and his home," he said: It was said to the earth: "Take them," so it took them up to their heels. He said: It was said to it: "Take them," so it took them up to their knees. Then it was said to it: "Take them," so it took them up to their necks. Then it was said to it: "Take them," so they were swallowed by the earth.
17152 - Abu Sa'id ibn Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Isa al-Ramli narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from al-Minhal ibn 'Amr, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr who said: Allah revealed to Musa: "What makes you weep? I have commanded the earth to obey you, so command it to do whatever you wish." He said: So he said: "Take them," so it took them to the extent that Allah willed. They began to cry out: "O Musa... O Musa..." He said: "Take them," so it took them and they were swallowed by the earth. He said: The Children of Israel were afflicted after that with hardship and severe hunger. They came to Musa, peace be upon him, and said: "O Musa, pray to your Lord for us." He prayed for them, and Allah revealed to him: "O Musa, do you speak to Me regarding a people whose relationship with Me has been obscured by their sins? They called upon you, but you did not answer them; had they called upon Me, I would have answered them."
17153 - 'Abd Allah ibn Ahmad al-Dashtaki narrated to us, my father narrated to me, my father narrated to us, Idris ibn Muhammad al-Rudhi narrated to us, 'Isa ibn Musa narrated to us, Khalid ibn al-Haytham narrated to me, from Yazid al-Raqashi that when Musa prayed against Korah and the earth swallowed him up to his neck, he took his two sandals and struck his face with them, while Korah was saying: "O Musa, have mercy on me." Then Allah said: "O Musa, how hard your heart is! My servant called upon you and asked for your mercy, and you showed him no mercy. By My might, had he called upon Me, I would have answered him."
