Hammad ibn Abi Sulayman narrated to us regarding the saying of Allah: "Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing," he said: "As long as you are in it."

His saying, the Almighty: "Prohibits immorality and wrongdoing"

17347 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih reported to me, Mu'awiyah reported to me, Yahya ibn Salih reported to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "Prohibits immorality and wrongdoing," he says: "Immorality (al-fahsha') is adultery, and wrongdoing (al-munkar) is polytheism (shirk)." It was also narrated from 'Ikrimah and al-Hasan similar to that.

His saying, the Almighty: "And the remembrance of Allah is greater"

17348 - Harun ibn Ishaq al-Hamadhani narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab reported to us, from Mus'ad, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from 'Abd Allah ibn Rabi'ah, who said: Ibn 'Abbas said: "What do you say regarding the saying of Allah: 'And the remembrance of Allah is greater'?" He said: "It is he who remembers Allah during the commission of sins." Ibn 'Abbas then said: "You have spoken, and it is not as you have said, but the remembrance of Allah of the servant is greater than the servant's remembrance of his Lord."

17349 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu Khalid al-Ahmar reported to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from a man, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And the remembrance of Allah is greater," he said: "The remembrance of Allah at your meal, at your sleep." I said: "For a companion of mine at home says other than what you say." He said: "And what does he say?" He said: "He says: Allah said: 'So remember Me; I will remember you.' Thus, Allah's remembrance of us is greater than our remembrance of Him." He said: "He is truthful."

17350 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih reported to me, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih reported to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And the remembrance of Allah is greater," he says: "And the remembrance of Allah for His servants when they remember Him is greater than their remembrance of Him."

17351 - Ahmad ibn Sinan al-Wasiti narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi reported to us, from Sufyan, from Harun—meaning Ibn 'Antarah—from his father, who said: I asked Ibn 'Abbas, or he was asked: "Which deed is most excellent?" He said: "And the remembrance of Allah is greater." He said that three times. He said: "And no group of people has sat in a house from the houses of Allah remembering Allah and interacting with it among themselves but that they were guests of Allah, and but that..."
