His saying, the Almighty: "Those are the losers."

17386 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Safwan ibn Salih narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to me, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to me, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan: "Those are the losers in the Hereafter."

17387 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl ibn Musa, Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn Hasan ibn Shaqiq narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim Abu Wahb narrated to us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to me, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "Those are the losers," he says: "In the Hereafter, they are in the Fire."

His saying, the Almighty: "And they hasten you to bring the punishment."

17388 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yazid narrated to us, he said: I heard Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And they hasten you to bring the punishment," he said: "Some ignorant people of this Ummah said: 'O Allah, if this is the truth from You, then rain down upon us stones from the sky or bring us a painful punishment.'"

[His saying, the Almighty: "And were it not for a specified term"]

[The first interpretation]

17389 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "A specified term," he said: "The Day of Resurrection." A similar account was narrated from 'Atiyyah, al-Dahhak, 'Ikrimah, al-Suddi, 'Ata' al-Khurasani, and al-Rabi' ibn Anas.

The second interpretation

17390 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "A specified term," he says: "The term of your life is until the day you die, and the term of your death is until the day you are resurrected; so you are between two terms from Allah, the Exalted and Majestic."

His saying, the Almighty: "And it will surely come to them suddenly while they do not perceive."

17391 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "Suddenly," meaning unexpectedly.

17392 - Al-Hasan ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah al-Harawi narrated to us, Hajjaj narrated to us, from Abu Jurayj, from Mujahid regarding: "And it will surely come to them suddenly while they do not perceive," he said: "Quraysh."
