تفسير ابن أبي حاتم
مجلد 9 · صفحة 306[سورة لقمان (٣١) : آية ١٦]

الترجمة · EN

17535 - From Ikrimah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: Luqman (peace be upon him) was a prophet. (1)

17536 - From Layth (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: Luqman’s (peace be upon him) wisdom was prophethood. (2)

17537 - From Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that he mentioned Luqman the Wise and said: He was not given what he was given on account of family, wealth, lineage, or attributes. Rather, he was a firm, silent man, deep in thought and profound in reflection. He never slept during the day, and no one ever saw him spitting, clearing his throat, urinating, defecating, bathing, fidgeting, or laughing. He would not repeat any speech he uttered unless he was stating a piece of wisdom that he was asked to repeat. He had married and had children, but they died and he did not weep for them. He would frequent the authorities and visit the wise to look, reflect, and take heed, and it was through this that he was given what he was given. (3)

17538 - From Abu Musa al-Ash’ari (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Luqman said to his son while admonishing him: “O my son, beware of begging, for it is a source of fear by night and humiliation by day.” (4)

17539 - From Ali ibn Rabah al-Lakhmi that when Luqman (peace be upon him) admonished his son, he said: “If it were a mustard seed, he would bring it to the Yarmouk and cast it into its depth, then wait as long as Allah willed, then remember it, and extend his hand so that a fly would come and place it in his palm.” (5)

[His saying, the Exalted: "Weakness upon weakness"]

17540 - From Ata al-Khurasani regarding His saying: "Weakness upon weakness," he said: Weakness upon weakness. (6)

17541 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Weakness upon weakness," he said: Hardship, which is the child. (7)

17542 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Weakness upon weakness," he said: The child is upon weakness? He said: The mother and her weakness. (8)
