his wives; and he, his wives, and his servants shall never die. Their bliss increases every day without the former passing away, and it is a comfort for eyes that never ceases, and no terror shall ever enter upon him therein (1).

17848 - From Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), who said: "By Him in whose hand is my soul, if the last of the people of Paradise were to host Adam and those below him, and set food and drink for them until they departed from him, that would not diminish anything from what Allah has given him" (2).

17849 - Ja'far ibn Munir al-Mada'ini narrated to us, Abu Badr Shuja' ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Ziyad ibn Khaithamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Jahada, from 'Amir ibn 'Abd al-Wahid who said: It reached me that a man from the people of Paradise remains in his place for seventy years, then he looks around and finds himself with a woman more beautiful than what he was in. She says to him: "It is time for us to have a portion of you?" He says: "Who are you?" She says: "I am of the 'More' (Mazid)." So he remains with her for seventy years, then he looks around and finds himself with a woman more beautiful than what he was in. She says to him: "It is time for us to have a portion of you?" He says: "Who are you?" She says: "I am she whom Allah spoke of: 'And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes'" (3).

His saying, the Almighty: "Is then he who was a believer like him who was a transgressor? They are not equal."

He said: There was a dispute between al-Walid and 'Ali, so al-Walid ibn 'Uqbah said: "I am more eloquent in tongue than you, sharper in spear than you, and more repelling of the battalion than you." 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Be silent, for you are a transgressor (fasiq)." So Allah revealed: "Is then he who was a believer like him who was a transgressor? They are not equal..." (4).

17851 - From 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Is then he who was a believer like him who was a transgressor? They are not equal," he said: It was revealed concerning 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) and al-Walid ibn 'Uqbah (5).

17852 - From Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Is then he who was a believer like him who was a transgressor? They are not equal," he said: Not in this world, not at the time of death, and not in the Hereafter. And in His saying:
