His saying, the Almighty: "Have they not seen that We drive the water to the barren land?"
17860 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Have they not seen that We drive the water to the barren land?" He said: "Al-juruz" (the barren land) is that which is not rained upon except for a drizzle that is of no use to it, other than what reaches it from the floodwaters (1).
17861 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "to the barren land," he said: A land in Yemen (2).
17862 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "to the barren land," he said: It is that which does not grow vegetation, like Abyan and similar lands (3).
17863 - From 'Ikrimah regarding "to the land," he said: The barren land (samta') (4).
17864 - From al-Suddi regarding "to the barren land," he said: To the dead land (5).
17865 - From al-Hasan regarding "to the barren land," he said: [A place] located between Yemen and al-Sham (6).
His saying, the Almighty: "When will this opening be, if you are truthful?"
17866 - From Qatadah, he said: The Companions said: "We have a day in which we hope to find rest and comfort." Then the polytheists said: "When will this opening be, if you are truthful?" So it was revealed (7).

17867 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "Say, the day of opening," he said: The Day of Resurrection (8).
His saying, the Almighty: "So wait; indeed, they are waiting."
17867 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "Say, the day of opening," he said: The day of judgment. And regarding His saying: "So wait; indeed, they are waiting," he said: The Day of Resurrection (9).

قوله تعالى: أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّا نَسُوقُ الْمَاءَ إلى الأرض الجرز
١٧٨٦٠ - عن ابن عباس في قوله: أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أنا نسوق الماء إلى الأرض الجرز قال: الجرز: التي لا تمطر إلا قطرًا لا يغني عنها شيئًا وإلا ما يأتيها من السيول «١» .
١٧٨٦١ - عن ابن عباس في قوله: إلى الأرض الجرز قال: أرض باليمن «٢» .
١٧٨٦٢ - عن مجاهد في قوله: إلى الأرض الجرز قال: هي التي لا تنبت هن أبين ونحوها من الأرض «٣» .
١٧٨٦٣ - عن عكرمة إِلَى الأَرْضِ قال: السمطاء «٤» .
١٧٨٦٤ - عن السدى إِلَى الأَرْضِ الْجُرُزِ قال: إلى الأرض الميتة «٥» .
١٧٨٦٥ - عن الحسن إِلَى الأرض الجرز قال: قرئ فيما بين اليمن والشام «٦» .
قوله تعالى: مَتَى هَذَا الْفَتْحُ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
١٧٨٦٦ - عن قتادة قال: قال الصحابة: إن لنا يوم يوشك أن نستريح فيه ونتنعم فيه. فقال المشركون مَتَى هَذَا الْفَتْحُ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صادقين فنزلت «٧» .

١٧٨٦٧ - عن مجاهد في قوله: قُلْ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ قال: يوم القيامة «٨» .
قوله تعالى: وَانْتَظِرْ إِنَّهُمْ منتظرون
١٧٨٦٧ - عن قتادة في قوله: قُلْ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ قال: يوم القضاء. وفي قوله:
وَانْتَظِرْ إِنَّهُمْ منتظرون قال: يوم القيامة «٩» .
