His saying, the Almighty: "And his wives are their mothers" (1).
17585 - From Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And his wives are their mothers," he said: By this, their right is held in high esteem (2).
17586 - From Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And his wives are their mothers," he says: They are their mothers in terms of sanctity. It is not permissible for a believer to marry any of the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in his lifetime if he divorces them, nor after his death; she is forbidden to every believer, just like the sanctity of his mother (3).
His saying, the Almighty: "The Prophet is more entitled to the believers than their own selves"
17588 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he recited, "The Prophet is more entitled to the believers than their own selves, and he is a father to them" (4).
17589 - From 'Ikrimah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: It was in the first reading (harf), "The Prophet is more entitled to the believers than their own selves, and he is a father to them" (5).
His saying, the Almighty: "Unless you [wish to] do a kindness to your close associates"
17590 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Unless you [wish to] do a kindness to your close associates," he said: You make a bequest to your allies whom the Prophet (peace be upon him) had established bonds of brotherhood between from among the Emigrants (Muhajirun) and the Helpers (Ansar) (6).
17591 - From Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn al-Hanafiyyah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Unless you [wish to] do a kindness to your close associates," he said: This verse was revealed regarding the permissibility of a Muslim making a bequest to a Jew or a Christian (7).
His saying, the Almighty: "And [mention, O Muhammad,] when We took from the prophets their covenant"
17592 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And [mention, O Muhammad,] when We took from the prophets their covenant," he said: [It took place] in the loins of Adam. "And We took from them a solemn covenant," he said: It was more solemn than what He took from the people. "That He may question the truthful about their truthfulness," he said: [Referring to] the Messengers who conveyed [the message] and fulfilled it (8).
