And they used to say regarding him and his companions: "Among them are some who have fulfilled their vow, and among them are some who are waiting" (1).
17642 - Ahmad ibn al-Fadl al-Asqalani narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Ayyub ibn Sulayman ibn Isa ibn Musa ibn Talhah ibn Ubaydullah narrated to us, my father narrated to me, from my grandfather, from Musa ibn Talhah, from his father Talhah who said: When the Prophet (peace be upon him) returned, this verse was revealed: "Men who are true to what they promised Allah," the entire verse. A man from the Muslims stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, who are they?" I came forward, wearing two green Hadrami garments, and he said: "O inquirer, this one is among them" (2).
The saying of the Exalted: "Among them are some who have fulfilled their vow, and among them are some who are waiting."
17643 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding "Among them are some who have fulfilled their vow," he said: "Death upon what they promised Allah, and among them are some who are waiting for that" (3).
17644 - From his father (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding his saying: "Among them are some who have fulfilled their vow," he said: "His vow." And the poet said: "She fulfilled her vow from Yathrib and continued" (4).
17645 - From Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding his saying: "Among them are some who have fulfilled their vow," he said: "He died upon what he was on of belief and faith, and among them are some who are waiting for that, and they did not change in the least, and did not alter as the hypocrites altered" (5).
[The saying of the Exalted: And Allah drove back those who disbelieved in their rage]
17646 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding his saying: "And Allah drove back those who disbelieved in their rage," he said: "The Confederates (al-Ahzab)" (6).
The saying of the Exalted: "They did not obtain any good."
17647 - From al-Suddi (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding his saying: "And Allah drove back those who disbelieved in their rage."
