Abu Bakr ibn Abi Quhafah, upon his departure from this world, when the disbeliever believes, the wicked person becomes God-fearing, and the liar speaks the truth: 'I have appointed as your successor 'Umar ibn al-Khattab. If he acts justly, then that is my expectation of him and my hope in him. If he acts tyrannically and changes things, then I have no knowledge [of the unseen]. "And those who have done wrong will soon know to what [kind of] return they will return."'
16085 - It was mentioned from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ibrahim al-Dimashqi: Ibn Wahb narrated to us: Abu Shurayh al-Iskandarani informed us, from some of the elders, that they were in the land of the Byzantines (al-Rum). While they were one night by a fire, roasting or warming themselves, some riders arrived. They rose to meet them, and it was Fudalah ibn 'Ubayd among them. They were accommodated and he sat with them. He said: A companion of ours was standing in prayer, and he passed by this verse: "And those who have done wrong will soon know to what [kind of] return they will return." Fudalah ibn 'Ubayd said: They are those who destroy the House (the Ka'bah).
