the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
He said: He wrote with it: "In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. From Sulayman ibn Dawud to Bilqis, the daughter of Dhu Sharh, and her people."
His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, it is 'In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.'"
16303 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, 'Umar ibn Ayyub al-Mawsili narrated to us, from Ja'far ibn Burqan, from Maymun ibn Mihran that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) used to write: "In Your name, O Allah," until it was revealed: "Indeed, it is from Sulayman, and indeed, it is 'In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.'" So the Arabs said: "And what is 'the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful'?" Then Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, revealed: "Say, 'Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful. Whichever [name] you call - to Him belong the best names.'"
16304 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan al-Hisinjani narrated to us, Musaddad narrated to us, Ibn Abi 'Adi narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from al-Sha'bi, who said: The people of the Jahiliyyah used to write, "In Your name, O Allah." The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) wrote [it] without naming Allah. When [the verse] "Say, 'Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful'" was revealed, he wrote: "In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful," so the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) wrote it.
16305 - Abu Harun al-Kharraz narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn al-Jahm narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Abi Qays narrated to us, from Husayn ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami, from Mujahid, who said: There was nothing in the letter of Sulayman to the Queen of Saba' except what was narrated in the Quran: "Indeed, it is from Sulayman, and indeed, it is 'In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.'"
16306 - My father narrated to us, Harun ibn al-Fadl Abu Ya'la al-Hannat narrated to us, Abu Yusuf narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Salih, from 'Abd al-Karim Abu Umayyah, from Ibn Buraydah, from his father, who said: I was walking with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and he said: "I know a verse that was not revealed to any prophet before me except after Sulayman ibn Dawud." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, which verse?" He said: "I will teach it to you before I leave the mosque." He said: Then he reached the door and stepped out with one of his feet, so I said: "He forgot." Then he turned to me and said: "Indeed, it is from Sulayman, and indeed, it is 'In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.'"
His saying, the Almighty: "Do not be haughty with me"
